All providers listed in this database have self-reported that they meet the following criteria for inclusion as a competent, safe, and affirming provider for the LGBTQ Community. The LGBTQ Therapist Resource has established this criteria and lists providers solely on the basis of their self-report. If you feel that you have a personal experience that indicates a provider listed in this database is not a competent, safe, and affirming provider for the LGBTQ community, please let us know immediately at lgbtqtherapistresource@gmail.com. It is our desire to ensure as best as possible that we direct you to the safest and best providers available to you. Any provider determined not to meet our criteria after an investigation process by our board of directors will be removed from our database.

Have you received LGBTQ specific training?
Have you taken courses specific to cultural diversity or LGBTQ issues?
Have you looked deeper into your own sexual identity to identify where you fall within a community?
Have you worked with more than a few LGBTQ patients/clients?
Have you researched biases, discrimination, oppression, and models used specifically for LGBTQ individuals?
Do you know any personal friends/family members in the community?
Are you comfortable working with clients that have alternative views and beliefs than your sexual identity?
